Fine Art Asia 2025<\/strong> is set to make its highly anticipated return this autumn, marking the celebration of its 20th edition. The fair will be held in Hall 1E of the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre from Saturday, 4 October to Tuesday, 7 October 2025, with an exclusive VIP Preview on Friday, 3 October.<\/p>\n

Since its founding in 2006, Fine Art Asia<\/strong> has earned a reputation as the region\u2019s most prestigious annual fine art fair, consistently presenting museum-quality artworks spanning over 5,000 years of cultural history, from ancient Chinese bronzes to contemporary art. Antiques have consistently been the most significant exhibit category at Fine Art Asia<\/strong>, contributing greatly to the fair’s esteemed reputation. The success we celebrate today is a testament to the unwavering support of our veteran dealers, each bringing their unique expertise to the field.

Among the renowned international antique galleries returning to this year’s fair is Rossi & Rossi, Hong Kong\/London<\/strong>, showcasing an impressive collection of Buddhist art from the Himalayan regions. Maria Kiang Chinese Art, Hong Kong<\/strong>, will feature a noteworthy bamboo \u201cchilong\u201d parfumier, a celebrated piece from the prestigious Wang Shixiang collection. Additionally, Wui Po Kok Antique Co. Ltd., Hong Kong<\/strong>, will present an exceptional bronze vessel from the Warring States period and collaborate with local artist Elsa Ngai on a new inspired work. Sue Ollemans, London<\/strong>, with Indian, Chinese, and Southeast Asian jewellery; and Somlo London<\/strong> with antique timepieces, featuring precious watches by Patek Philippe and Cartier.<\/p>\n

We are pleased to welcome new exhibitors to the fair, enhancing our diverse offering. Among them is Hong Kong Bao Pai<\/strong>, specialising in Sino-foreign metalwork artistry, archaic bronze, ceramics, and exquisite jade treasures. Judetang, Hong Kong<\/strong>, is a discerning dealer in the arts of ancient China and the Silk Road. “Dong Fang Ji Bai” Osaka Japan<\/strong>, is dedicated to the collection and research of ancient Chinese artworks. Finally, ruru gallery, Tokyo<\/strong> focuses on ancient Chinese and South Asian art, showcasing an impressive range of sculptures, Buddhist figures, and bronzes.<\/p>\n

In the designed jewellery section, we are thrilled to welcome Chong Ho Art Jewelry, Hong Kong<\/strong>, showcasing sophisticated jewellery pieces that blend diverse materials with exquisite craftsmanship. Also making their debut is Cixi Jewelry, Hong Kong<\/strong>, which curates premium gemstones sourced directly from mines worldwide to meticulously craft stunning jewellery.<\/p>\n

In the art section, we are proud to present a dynamic lineup of local galleries that have made a strong mark on the international stage, highlighting the diversity and vibrancy of the field. The highlight galleries from Hong Kong include Kwai Fung Hin Art Gallery<\/strong>, dedicated to 20th century modern Chinese and Asian contemporary art, will feature the signature porcelain series by renowned artist Bai Ming<\/em>; Hanart TZ Gallery presents a solo exhibition of Xu Longsen, a leading figure in contemporary landscape painting. Alisan Fine Arts<\/strong> celebrates the 80th birthday of esteemed calligrapher Wang Dongling, exhibiting his acclaimed calligraphic works alongside pieces by his students; Grotto Fine Art<\/strong> showcases works by both established and emerging artists, including Hung Fai, Yau Wing Fung, Chan Kwan Lok, Shum Kwan Yi, and Xie Chengxuan.<\/p>\n

Galleries from Mainland China and Taipei also bring a rich spectrum of artistic voices, from classical ink traditions to bold contemporary expressions. CHINI Gallery, Taipei<\/strong> presents a solo exhibition of Teng Pu-Chun, known for his fantastical and illusory interpretations of ink painting. Chelesa Art, Hong Kong\/Shanghai<\/strong>, features works by Stewart Wong and Hong Jian, whose distinct visual languages capture natural and urban landscapes; while Pine\u2019s Art, Shanghai\/Taipei<\/strong> offers a selection of calligraphy and ink paintings by celebrated artists such as Zhang Daqian, Feng Zikai, Chang Ch\u2019ung-ho, Tung Chiao, and Lu Xiaoman<\/em>. We are also thrilled to welcome Ginkgo Space, Shanghai\/Shenzhen<\/strong>, making its debut at Fine Art Asia 2025, with a commitment to supporting diverse artistic expressions and promoting contemporary creative practices.<\/p>\n

CRAFT Now
\u201cCRAFT Now\u201d<\/strong> makes its debut as a celebration of contemporary crafts of exceptional artistic and collectable value. This curated showcase brings together esteemed galleries, with a particular focus on innovative artists from across Asia. Many of these makers are formally recognised for their mastery of traditional techniques and honoured as preservers of intangible cultural heritage by national or cultural authorities.<\/p>\n

While the \u201cCRAFT Now Pavilion\u201d<\/strong>, curated by Susanna Pang of the Contemporary Crafts Centre, is further enriched by the expertise of veteran curator Ying Jian and the accomplished consultant in the fields of craft and design Eva Qian Li. With its emphasis on playful designs and high artistic value, the pavilion aims to engage a new generation of collectors and to elevate the appreciation of contemporary craft within the wider art community.<\/p>\n

Back on Paper<\/strong>
Fine Art Asia 2025 proudly presents \u201cBack on Paper\u201d: a tribute to the origins of artistic expression and a homage to the foundation upon which our fair was built.<\/p>\n

The pavilion offers a serene and contemplative space dedicated to the artistry of works on paper. This thoughtfully curated area showcases more than 30 exceptional pieces, including master sketches, prints, early European etchings, ukiyo-e woodblock prints, and contemporary ink paintings, traversing geographies and centuries, inviting collectors and connoisseurs to engage with the medium in its most intimate form.<\/p>\n

We are also honoured to take this opportunity to pay tribute to Robert Hatfield Ellsworth (1929\u20132014), the distinguished American scholar and collector whose legacy profoundly shaped Western appreciation of Asian art. A curated selection of rare books from his personal library will be on display, each bearing his ex libris \u2014 a mark not only of ownership but also reflecting Ellsworth\u2019s lifelong pursuit of cross-cultural understanding and underscoring the enduring significance of paper as a vessel of scholarship, artistry, and historical memory.<\/p>\n

To expand the boundaries of artistic expression, Fine Art Asia 2025<\/strong> proudly presents the specially curated project \u201cink+\u201d, bringing together over ten distinguished artists from Hong Kong and Mainland China, each showcasing unconventional interpretations of ink art. By thoughtfully reimagining traditional ink aesthetics and philosophies, these artists employ non-traditional media, including video, new media, and kinetic installations, to create works that are both visually striking and deeply rooted in the literati spirit. The exhibition also embraces cutting-edge technologies such as interactive sensors and artificial intelligence (AI), offering a fresh perspective on the evolving language of contemporary ink art.<\/p>\n

Titled \u201cunenlightened\u201d, the exhibition explores the complex interplay between reality and illusion, drawing inspiration from the \u201cPlatform Sutra of the Sixth Patriarch\u201d, which speaks to the innate potential for enlightenment within all sentient beings. Through diverse and innovative approaches, participating artists offer contemporary reflections on personal identity and spiritual awakening, inviting viewers to experience a bold and unconventional interpretation of ink art.<\/p>\n

To mark Fine Art Asia<\/strong>\u2019s milestone 20th anniversary, Boogie Woogie Photography<\/strong> proudly presents “20\/20 VISION<\/strong>“. This specially curated exhibition features the works of 20 iconic artists, including Roger Ballen (b. 1950), Fan Ho (1931-2016), Nobuyoshi Araki (b. 1940), displayed prominently throughout the fair’s public areas. In addition to the photographic works, a selection of related books by Devedo will also be available for purchase, offering collectors and enthusiasts further insight into the featured artists and their practice.<\/p>\n

In the ninth edition of their annual “Tribute Series”, The Ink Society presents “A Tribute to Wang Dongling<\/strong>” at Fine Art Asia 2025<\/strong>, to honour the pioneering achievements of China\u2019s pre-eminent contemporary artist calligrapher. Born in 1945 in Rudong, Jiangsu, Wang Dongling learnt from many 20th-century calligraphy masters and became a sworn disciple of the \u201ccursive sage\u201d Lin Sanzhi (1898-1989) in the late 1960s.<\/p>\n

Well-versed in all calligraphic scripts, Wang was invited to teach in the United States in 1989 and spent four years abroad. This experience expanded his cultural horizons and also motivated him to modernise calligrapher for a contemporary audience beyond China. After ceaseless exploration and diligent practice, Wang invented an original form of his own, the \u201centangled script\u201d, which unleashes the full emotional power of calligraphic lines beyond textual legibility and meaning.<\/p>\n

Upon the artist\u2019s 80th birthday, this exhibition surveys Wang\u2019s inventive career and still transforming practice of over half a century with a selection of works spanning from the 1990s to today.<\/p>\n

Highlights include exquisite lacquer furniture from Andy Hei Ltd.<\/strong>, dating back to the Ming and Qing Dynasties; intricate bronzeware from Wui Po Kok Antique Co., Ltd.<\/strong>; and striking contemporary artworks presented by The Gallery by SOIL<\/strong>, crafted by artists who masterfully blend inherited techniques with bold, imaginative spirit. Each piece sparks a dialogue, opening pathways to untold stories that resonate across centuries and cultures. Visitors are warmly invited to immerse themselves in the enduring spirit of craftsmanship\u2014its resilience, beauty, and humanity \u2014 echoing from the dawn of civilisation to the present day.<\/p>\n

<\/strong>The Academic Programme of Fine Art Asia<\/strong> remains instrumental in cultivating meaningful dialogue among public institutions, collectors, scholars, and galleries through a dynamic series of thought-provoking discussions. An exceptional lineup of speakers will bring fresh perspectives to discussions across diverse collecting categories. Catherine Kwai, Founder and CEO of Kwai Fung Hin Art Gallery, will lead a lecture on the contemporary evolution of porcelain and lacquer. Michael Leung, independent scholar and overseas curator and academic advisor to the Hunan Museum, will explore the historical development of Chinese white ware. A distinguished panel, featuring celebrated artist Wang Dongling, Dr Yan Shanchun, Ph.D. in History and Theory from the China Academy of Art, Dr Pi Li, Head of Art at Tai Kwun,
and independent curator Dr Zhu Chunhang, will examine Wang\u2019s lifelong artistic journey. The programme also includes the award ceremony for the Liu Kuo-sung Ink Art Award. Additionally, Yan Yan, Founder of Shenzhen Wangye Museum and collector, ink artist Lin Guocheng, and Andy Hei, Founder and Co-Chairman of Fine Art Asia, will discuss the artistic possibilities of paper as a medium and the unique collectability of works on paper.
